When the Rain Comes
Let the gray sky gather
softly over the roof,
let the rain whisper
against the sleeping glass.
Tonight the windows stay closed,
curtains drawn like velvet wings,
while the little house
keeps its warmth inside.
Somewhere beyond the clouds
the moon is still waiting,
silver and patient,
hidden but never gone.
And above her,
the old stars burn quietly,
scattered like wishes
across an endless black sea.
Let the world hurry without me.
Let the roads shine beneath the rain.
Let the wind wander through the trees
and carry the restless things away.
Here there is only candlelight,
the soft breathing of the house,
rain tapping
